Okey Anyiam is a respected and experienced criminal defense attorney who practices primarily in North Texas. He is the 2026 Democratic Nominee for Judge, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3. He is campaigning to ensure Texans benefit from a fair and independent judiciary at the state's top criminal court. Anyiam's judicial philosophy is to "uphold the law without legislating from the bench, and to apply the clear legislative intent unless that intent is ambiguous."
Anyiam was licensed to practice law in Texas in 1997. He has represented thousands of individuals in Texas proceedings, enforcing his clients' due process rights in trials, dismissals, plea bargains, and rehabilitation and diversion programs.
Relying on his extensive experience in trial court, Anyiam will work with the other Texas Court of Criminal Appeals Judges so that this court hears more cases than it currently does, and in a timely manner. Anyiam will give guidance on important issues that are apparent on the record though not raised, so attorneys do not have to wait several years for the court’s opinion on those issues in future appeals.
Anyiam is a longtime Dallas resident. He and his wife have four adult children. They are active in the community and in local Democratic politics.
